FOR A WARD 1 WE CAN ALL AFFORD
CONSTITUENT SERVICES

UNIVERSAL CHILDCARE
Every family deserves access to affordable, high-quality childcare. No parent should have to choose between career and caregiving.
Jackie will fight for:
Universal childcare for all families.
Fair pay and professional development for early childhood educators.
Building and renovating childcare facilities so every child can grow in a healthy, nurturing environment.
Childcare shouldn’t cost $2,500 a month. We need a city we can all afford — a city where families can raise their children with real opportunities from the earliest stages of life.

REAL AFFORDABLE HOUSING
Too many longtime residents are being displaced from the neighborhoods they helped build. Jackie knows this story personally — her father bought their home in the 1990s while working as a dishwasher. Today, that dream is available only to a few, not to all.
Jackie will fight for:
Expanding pathways to homeownership.
Strengthening rent control and tenant protections.
We must keep our neighbors here. We need to preserve Ward 1 as the most diverse and vibrant place in Washington, D.C.

NEIGHBORHOOD SOLUTION CENTER
Ward 1 deserves leadership that listens, responds, and acts. Jackie will bring back accountability and direct service to her neighbors.
When you call 202-724-8181, someone will answer — and your case will be resolved.
Ward 1: Ready to Defend Our Beautiful, Diverse Community
Ward 1 stands as one of D.C.'s most vibrant and diverse communities, a place where people from every walk of life come together with a shared vision: a safe, affordable, and thriving community where every family has the opportunity to succeed.
Through countless conversations, I've heard directly from our neighbors about the real challenges we face. These aren't abstract policy issues; they are the daily struggles of families working hard to build good lives in the community they cherish. It's time to tackle these challenges head-on, with solutions that truly make a difference.

My Story: From Struggle to Service
A Journey of Resilience

A New Beginning in 1990
Born in El Salvador, Jackie came to Washington, D.C. in 1990—escaping civil war , started her life in Mount Pleasant. A teenage mom and survivor of homelessness, she knows what it means to start from nothing and rise through perseverance, faith, and hard work.
Finding Hope at Latin American Youth Center
Ward 1 became my home, and the Latin American Youth Center became my lifeline. They offered more than just services; they provided a community, resources, and the support I needed to navigate a new country, empowering me to stand on my own two feet.

Dedicated to Our Community
That experience ignited an unwavering commitment within me to ensure every family in Ward 1 has the same opportunities for support and success. My journey taught me the power of community, and now, I'm ready to bring that resilience and dedication to the City Council.
